There was a really nice language for the 8-bit series of Atari computers (400, 800, XL series, XE series) called "Action!" It was similar in syntax to C and Pascal, but had a lot of similarities to BASIC (at least Atari BASIC :) ). Back in 1997 I wrote a fun little puzzle game for the Atari XL using it, and easily ported it to C to run under Unix/X11.
