  1. From memory, write 10 lines of poetry (or 10 verses from the Old Testament) from the course material and analyze their meaning in a well-written paragraph.  Include the poem title, author (if known), and page number in the book to facilitate grading.

  3. Compare & contrast 2 characters from the reading.  What makes them significant?  What are their strengths, weaknesses, virtues, vices?

  5. Compare & contrast the divine command theory and virtue theory in ethics.  Give examples of each from the reading.

  7. Compare & contrast the accounts of creation in Greek sources with those given in the Bible.

  9. List & describe the 12 Olympian gods.

  11. Compare & contrast the various accounts of the underworld in your reading.

  12. Compare & contrast the Hebrew views of God with the Greek views of the gods.

  13. Discuss the indictments of God & the gods and the answering theodicies in Hebrew and Greek works.  What accusations are made?  How are these answered?

EXTRA CREDIT: Write from memory up to 20 lines of poetry from our readings (or 20 verses from the Old Testament) for up to 10 points of extra credit. Partial credit is possible. Include the poem title, author (if known), and page number in the book to facilitate grading.  Do NOT use the same lines you used in #1 above.  You may use different lines from the same poem.
