2nd line~tempus fugit He translates this Latin into: "Old Time is still a-flying."

2nd Stanza

~It was common for to compare our life span to a day or a year.


The higher you go, the sooner you fall.

3rd Stanza

Best times are when you are young.
Bad times when you are old.

4th Stanza

Because he is a preacher, he tells them to marry instead of just telling them to have sex.

Live while you are young and can or you will end up an old maid.
