Gutting

Step three can be titled "Gutting". This step is where the "j" shaped curve is used. By now your animal should be hideless, making this process easier. First, place your container underneath the animal to catch the entrails. Next, make a small incision at the very bottom of the stomach. After this, place your gut hook in the incision where the skin falls into the curve. Carefully place two fingers into the cut to make sure the hook has not punctured any organs, especially the stomach. If all is clear proceed by pulling the gut hook 1upwards splitting open the stomach cavity. The animal's innards should then be easily accessible. Take advantage of this space to remove all internal organs. Do not forget to remove the heart and lungs which are sometimes out of the line of sight. Immediately following, use your water source to rinse the inside and outside of the animal removing any excess blood.
