Provenance of Matthew

- c 70 AD. This is the best guess IMHO. That's assuming, as
I do, that Matthew used Mark to compose his gospel rather
than the other way around.
- Place
- There is no clear statement within the text about where it
was composed or who the original audience was. Here are some
guesses about locations with enough Jewish Christians to be
an appropriate audience — Jerusalem, Galilee, Antioch,
Alexandria, Tyre, Sidon, Ptolemais, Caesarea of Philippi,
Damascus, etc.
