To design a Micro-Electrophoresis-System to quantitate protein carbonylation (major protein modification in aging and age-associated disease) from small samples, such as those obtained from needle biopsies, as would be available in a longitudinal study or single cells.

Free radicals mediate neural damage in schizophrenia. We will evaluate oxidative damage in rats brain induced by chronic atypical anti-psychotic drug  administration.

To obtain quantitative proteomics profiling of age-dependent protein modification/damage in brain, cancer and age-related disease, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Bioinformatics tools will be used to analyze the mass spectrometry data, and obtain quantitative profiling of young vs. old or normal vs. diseased states.
