Biological Microfluidics Laboratory


Our research is directed toward the development of miniaturized medical, biomedical, and biological instruments. We focus on the individual development and elegant integration of thermal, optical, electrical, biological, and structural system components. We create and advance these technologies in response to critical needs in the scientific, medical, defense, and aerospace communities. We recently evaluated the reduced gravity performance of a PCR instrument for space flight. Watch this video of what we did in between experiments (LINK).

For an overview of the scientific and technical methodologies that we implement, there is a series of short video tutorials under the Presentations tab that introduce the areas of our past and current work. Among others, there are videos on such topics as microfluidic PCR, integrated DNA analysis, and the low-cost high-quality fabrication technique of xurography.
