Undergraduate students will compete in a two-part test of their integration skills for a chance to win

First Place Prize:  $50 Cash

Second Place Prize:  $30 Log Cabin/Pochatoula's Gift Card

    Third Place Prize:   $20 Gift Card for The Depot

  Fourth Place Prize:  $10 Uptown Downtown Gift Card

 

The first part will consist of a timed 25 question paper test (WITH NO PARTIAL CREDIT!).

 

The top 8 participants will advance to the final tournament, which will be a bracketed competition of head to head madness!

Time: Both begin at 5:00 pm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Official Rules:

I.    Any registered undergraduate student will first attempt the preliminary test.

a. Students may not begin before time is given and may not continue after time has been called.

b. Students will have 35 minutes to work 25 integrals.

c. The top 8 students will advance to the final tournament.

d. In the event of a tie for 8th place the tie will be broken by a specific integral ordering and correctness in the paper exam.

e. Only a writing tool may be used during the test.  Forbidden items include: textbooks, tattoos involving integrals, notes, tables of integrals, calculators, or smart devices, etc... These will not be permitted during the test.

 

 

 

II.   The second part of the competition will consist of a bracketed tournament style competition.

a. Students in a matching bracket will go head     to head on the board. Each student will work the same integral simultaneously on the white board without a calculator or other assistance. 

b. Once a student puts their marker down to signal they are finished, they cannot edit their solution and it will be judged as is.

c.  All positions are single elimination, except: third place will be decided by the two semi-finalists not advancing to the final round as is customary.

d. In the event that either participant does not solve an integral it will be up to the discretion of the judges to either give a new integral or determine a winner of the round.

e. All positions will be won by the first person to correctly solve two integrals.
