LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY STUDENT COMPUTER LAB ACCESS AND USE

Following are the general steps that must be taken:

a. Get your userID and password from the Computing Center.

b. Log into one of the three student lab locations (3^rd floor of Wyly, 10^th floor of Library, and GTM 165

c. Load Internet Explorer (recommended) or Netscape.

Getting your userID and password

a. Go to the Computing Center (located at WT 116) and bring your photo ID.

b. A userID and password will be given.  This information will allow you to log into any of the three labs listed above.

Logging into labs

a.       Once in a lab, click the “ok” button to get to the login prompt.

b. Enter your userID and password in all lowercase, then click “ok”.

c.  When prompted, click “yes” that you want your current settings to be saved to the local computer.

Loading Internet Explorer (recommended) or Netscape

a.       Find the Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator icon on your desktop and double-click on it.

b.      Once loaded, click File then Open…

c.       Now type the address for the web site you wish to access and press Enter on your keyboard.

d.      DO NOT USE YOUR LA. TECH STUDENT COMPUTER LAB USERID AND PASSWORD TO LOGIN TO A WEB SITE.
