Step 5: Installing Expansion and Graphics Cards
This section only applies to those with graphics cards or other types of expansion cards. If you do not have any of those, feel free to skip to the next section.
There are three types of expansion ports on most modern motherboards (in order of speed): PCI-E x16, PCI-E x1, and PCI ports. Graphics cards go in the PCI-E x16 slot.
There are some metal sleeves covering your expansion ports. They are usually secured by a screw but sometimes have other methods for locking. Remove the sleeve in front of your desired expansion port.
Simply insert your card into the desired slot. Sometimes a bit of force is required but it usually requires more finesse than strength. Again, these card can only be inserted one way so you cannot get this wrong. PCI-E x16 slots usually have some locking mechanism on one side of it. Make sure this is unlocked before inserting your card.
