2. The notes on allegory give you the four levels of allegory as understood by the medieval church.  Pick one passage in the Bible and analyze the four levels of allegory as they apply to that passage.

 
3. Select a passage from the Old Testament & compare it to a passage from the New Testament, showing the typological link between them.  Suggest a typological connection for the modern reader to make to himself/herself.

 
4. Discuss the motif of sibling rivalry in Genesis.  Which rivalries foreshadow later international conflicts?

 
5. Discuss the allegorical links between the relationship of Hosea to Gomer and of God to Israel. (You don't need the 4-fold medieval allegory here - just the one-to-one correspondances.

 
6. Discuss the allegorical links in the parable of the prodigal son. (You don't need the 4-fold medieval allegory here - just the one-to-one correspondances.

 
7. Name and define five poetic devices & give an example of each.


EXTRA CREDIT: Write from memory up to 20 verses for up to 10 points of extra credit. Partial credit is possible. Indicate which passage you are using by book, chapter, & verse (John 5:1-10, for example).   Do NOT use the same verses you used in #1 above.  You may use different lines from the same poem.
